Department of Humanities

The Department of Humanities houses the disciplines of Economics, English Literature, Political Science, Sociology, History, Hindi Literature and Drawing & painting, Geography and Psychology. It aims to build communication and managerial skills and also develop an awareness regarding various issues concerning society thus bringing in an all-encompassing and holistic development of the students. The humanities help us to understand others through their languages, histories and cultures and teach empathy values. The inclusion of the study of the Humanities and other social and behavioural sciences ensures that our quest within the frontiers of the science and technology takes place in an informed manner and attends to humanitarian and social concerns. The Department of Humanities offers a number of core and elective courses. Department endeavours Students to the Path of National Service through UPSC and guide them towards its preparation.

Undergraduate (BA) & Postgraduate (MA) Programmes – 
The Undergraduate (BA) and Postgraduate (MA) programmes are designed to provide students
with a strong academic foundation, critical thinking skills, and holistic development. These
programmes aim to nurture intellectual curiosity, social awareness, and analytical ability,
preparing students for diverse career opportunities and higher studies.


The BA programme offers a broad understanding of core subjects in the humanities and social
sciences, encouraging students to explore English literature, Hindi Literature, history, sociology,
political science, geography, Psychology, economics. Students are encouraged to engage in
Internships, seminars, projects, fieldworks It focuses on building communication skills, cultural
awareness, and ethical values essential for personal and professional growth.


The MA programme provides advanced and specialized knowledge in the chosen discipline. It
emphasizes research orientation, theoretical depth, and practical application. Students are
encouraged to engage in seminars, projects, fieldwork, and independent research to develop
expertise and academic maturity.


Both programmes are supported by experienced faculty, a learner-centric environment, and
modern teaching methodologies. Graduates of BA and MA programmes are well-equipped for
careers in education, research, administration, media, social services, and various competitive
examinations.
