Role of IQAC in Exploring Interdisciplinary Approaches in Higher Education for Quality on National Seminar
A one day National Seminar on the topic “Role of IQAC in Exploring Interdisciplinary Approaches in Higher Education for Quality” was organized in Career College on 10th Oct. 2017. The Chief Guest for the occasion was Honorable Prof. Pramod Kumar Verma (VC, BU, Bhopal). The Guest of Honour was Dr. Vishnu Nanda Magare (EC, Member, NAAC).
The Vice President Mr. Manish Rajoriya gave a floral welcome to the Chief Guest. In his inaugural address he laid stress on skill development. The Chief Guest Prof. P.K. Verma spoke about IQAC (Internal Quality Assurance Cell) as being a branch office of NAAC in the college. In his address he said that there is no shortage of quality/skill/talent in India but due to lack of alignment and communication we are not able to progress the way we should. Further, he laid emphasis on the role of educational institutions i.e. to give direction to the society. Its aim is to maintain quality and transmit it to the society in such a way that it empowers and enriches the society to its full glory and grandeur. Education is a system and not a process. Bhopal has been awarded the status of ‘smart city’ but now it’s our responsibility to act as smart ‘citizens’. Shawl, Shreefal and a Memento was given to him as a mark of gratitude and respect.
Dr. Vishnu Nanda Magare (EC, Member, NAAC) in his address discussed about wisdom (Gyan, Vidhya) and the origin of the word ‘Career’ is derived by the Latin word ‘Currere’ which means run way. As the aeroplane moves very swiftly on the run way before it takes off on the direction of its destiny. Similarly, Curriculum is related to the career of the students and Career College provides a platform for their final take off on their journey to success. Dr. P.N. Tiwari (Principal, Career College) gave a vote of thanks to all the distinguished guest present on the dais. He expressed his heart felt gratitude towards the chief guest in particular and all the guest and delegates presents for the Seminar.
The first technical session was conducted by Dr. Swapnil Vilasrao Madhamshettiwar (NAAC Coordinator IQAC, Sardar Patel College, Chhatarpur) on the topic ‘Quality enhancement through IQAC’. He discussed the role of IQAC for improving the quality of higher education. It can be imparted through proper academic and administrative performance. The second technical session was based on the theme of ‘Interdisciplinary Approaches for Quality Education’ by Dr. V. N. Magare (EC, Member, NAAC). The Valedictory Function was held in which certificates were distributed to all the participants. In all app. more than 150 delegates from different colleges of Madhya Pradesh as well as India along with the faculty of Career Group of Institutions were present on the occasion. It was a very well organized, well coordinated and a successful event for one and all present.
Documentation and Record Keeping Workshop
On 09.12.17 a Workshop on ‘Documentation and Record Keeping’ was organized by IQAC, Career College. The Chief Guest was Prof. V. Gopal Reddy, Former Vice Chancellor, Kakatiya and Palamuru Universities, Telangana State. Mr. Ashish Rajoria, Secretary (Career Group of Institutions) and Dr. P.N. Tiwari, Principal (Career College) gave a floral welcome to the Chief Guest. The motive behind this workshop was to get acquainted with the practical working i.e. how to maintain documents and reports of each and every criterion. It includes filing papers in a systematic manner which will enable the NAAC team to get an overview of the work accomplished and what needs improvement if at all. It will also make the working of each criterion simpler and systematic centric.
The workshop was attended by the criteria heads, co-heads and its members. Further, the Chief Guest also explained the NAAC guidelines (New manual July 2017) to the faculty as how it operates, making it more practical, functional and transparent. The evaluation process now is internationally accepted methodology which is objective- centric as well as student-centric. The mission and vision of NAAC is not to impact A + or A ++ accreditation but it focuses on national development, fostering global competencies; inculcating value system, promotion of technology and quest for excellence among students.
NAAC New Methodology :Opportunities and Challenges
A Faculty Development Programme on ‘NAAC New Methodology :Opportunities and Challenges’ on 6th January 2019 was organized by Internal Quality Assurance Cell of Career College, Bhopal. The Resource Person for this programme was Dr. Ganesh Hegde Deputy Adviser NAAC, Bengaluru. In his deliberation, he emphasized on the development of quality culture in the College by collaborative working. He also highlighted the importance of core values of the institution. It was followed by question answer session. The Criteria Heads cleared their doubts on revised NAAC framework by putting forward their queries. Secretary Career group of institutions Shri Ashish Rajoria, Dr. P.N. Tiwari, Principal Career College and all faculty members attended the programme with great enthusiasm. A vote of thanks was proposed by Late Dr. Manjula Saini, IQAC in-charge, Career College, Bhopal.
FACULTY DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMME
IQAC Career College, Bhopal, organized a Faculty Development Programme on 15th September 2018 on the following topics-
Dr. Amit Chaturvediemphasized on the strategies of classroom management and Dr. Umesh Chandra Pandey discussed about the emerging educational spaces OER’s and MOOC’s.The knowledge of open resources is very necessary as we are living in anever evolving knowledge society and updatingknowledge in workplace is mandatory forour growth. Principal career College, Dr. P.N. Tiwari welcomed the Resource Persons with saplings and Prof. J.P. Vyas, Principal Career College of Law proposed the vote of thanks. The faculty members were immensely benefitted with the lectures as it definitely enriched them in many ways
