Microbial Pharmacology & Handling of Laboratory Animals
Dept. of Microbiology organized an Skill Development cum Internship Program on the topic “Microbial Pharmacology & Handling of Laboratory Animals” on 9-10th Feb. 2018 for B.Sc students. Licensed animal handling expert Mr. Rahul Saxena gave hands on traning to the students together with explaining research based Microbiology including handling of wistar rats, dosage of formulations, prescribed killing and disection of laboratory animals etc. The program was coordinated by mentor of the class Dr. Bhupendra Prasad.

Dept. of Microbiology organized an Skill Development Program on the topic “Laboratory Investigation for Diagnosis of Infectious Disease ” on 7-8th Feb. 2018 for B.Sc IV Sem students to provide hands on training on laboratory procedures together with explaining research based Microbiology including precautions in handling of infectious agents, diagnosis techniques, plating methods and analyzing protocols etc. The training was coordinated by Dr. Jitendra Malviya.

On 4th Feb. 2017 Jawahar Lal Nehru Cancer Hospital organized a program on “Cancer Awareness and Tobacco Prohibition” on the occasion of “World Cancer Day”. The students of Department of Biotechnology and Biochemistry attended and participated in Poster Making Competition. The winners of this competition were: • Vandana Chouhan (M.Sc. II Sem.) Dept. of Zoology organized a one day ‘Short Term Certificate Programme’ on ‘Identification of Animals Pug Marks and its Conservation’ on the occasion of ‘world Forest Day’ on 21st March 2018. The resource person was Mr. Sudesh Waghmare, Retd, Forest Officer, WWF, Bhopal and Ms. Vandana Bajaj, WWF. A interesting and valuable information about wild animals was given by resources person. Commerce & Management Dept. organized a ‘’Management Fest (Carnival for Administrators)’’ on 28th Feb. 2018 for B.B.A. students. A Zero Hunger World
World Food Day was celebrated on 15th Oct 2018 by Department of Biotechnology and Biochemistry by organizing a Nurifest II. On this occasion poster competition on the theme “A Zero Hunger World by 2030 is possible” and Nutrifest Competition on “Nutritional Value of Food” was organized. Students participated with great zeal and zest & expressed their knowledge on nutritional value. Judgment for poster competition was done by Mrs. Hamida Qureshi and judgment of nutritional value of food was done by Mrs. Shabeena A Rajkamal of Nursing Dept. Principal Sir Dr. P.N. Tiwari, Career College, Bhopal highly appreciated the students for their creative and active participation and also expressed his views on the importance of nutritious and balanced diet for the growth & development of not only students but also adults.

WATER QUALITY TESTING
Dept. of Microbiology organized a Skill Development Program on the topic “Water Quality Testing” on 12/02/2018 to 13/02/2018 for B.Sc. Ist year Microbiology students. In this training program students learned about physical, chemical and biological methods of water quality analysis. They all got knowledge about standard methodology of water sampling and checked drinking water quality. They tested all physical, chemical and microbiological parameters of water quality analysis. The program was coordinated by Dr. Aarti Kaushal and supported by H.O.D. Dr. Reena Antony other faculty members Dr. B. Prasad and Dr. J. Malviya.

Exotica -Formulation of Herbal Products
Department of Biotechnology and Biochemistry organized a 6 days ‘Short term Training Program’ from 22nd Jan to 27th Jan 2018 for UG students. B.Sc. I Sem students were trained on ‘Exotica -Formulation of Herbal Products’ in association with ‘Herbal Veda’, Mumbai to develop entrepreneurial skills. This program also focused on manufacturing products such as Exotic Herbal Soaps, Aloe vera Gel, Rose Water, Kajal, Face pack, Herbal Oil, Lip balm etc. along with development of their marketing skills. Student participated with great enthusiasm and gained all round knowledge of entrepreneurship and other aspects related to it.

AIDS Awareness Rally and Nukkad Natak
On 1st Dec 2017 Dept. of Biotechnology and Biochemistry, Women Empowerment Cell, NCC and NSS organized an ‘AIDS Awareness Rally and Nukkad Natak’ on the occasion of ‘World AIDS Day’ in Anna Nagar Slum area. People worldwide to unite to fight against HIV/AIDS as this epidemic is spreading exponentially specially in developing and underdeveloped countries. The students participated in a rally and performed Nukkad Natak on the theme ‘Say No To HIV and AIDS’. The need of the hour is to create awareness about HIV(Human Immunodeficiency Virus) and AIDS (Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome), raise money and also educate the masses about this disease, its symptoms, precautions to be taken and also about its prevention.

Polarography
‘Guest Lecture cum Short Term Certificate Course’ was organized by Dept. of Chemistry on 11th and 13th November 2017. On the first day of the two day event i.e. on 11th Nov.2017 students learnt about the Polarography basics and applicationsthrough the lecture delivered by Dr. Sulbha Amlathe, (HOD, Applied Science, UIT, BU, Bhopal). She gave an insight into basic instrumentation, principle, and applications of Polarography. On day two that is 13th Nov.2017 Dr. Shweta Sharma and Dr. Ruchi Dubey Sharma (faculty Career College) gave ‘hands on practice’ on Polarograph to determine concentration of various metal ions. The aim behind this was to enhance research skills among the students.

Environmental Awareness
Department of Chemistry, organized different events to commemorate ‘Ozone Layer Preservation Day’ on 16th Sept. 2017 in the college campus. Students participated in the events with great enthusiasm. The main theme of event was ‘Environmental Awareness’. Hand painting, Movie Making, Slogan Competition, and Poster Making Competition were the major attractions of the event. Dr. Vipin Vyas, Associate Professor, Dept. of Bioscience, B.U. Bhopal was the Chief Guest for the occasion. He also delivered a lecture on ‘Resource Management and Environmental protection’. Dr. P. N. Tiwari, Principal, Career College welcomed the guest with a sapling and blessed the students with his motivational words. Dr. Suparna Ghosh, HOD, extended a vote of thanks. All the faculty members and students were also present during the program. Prizes and certificates were distributed to the winners of various activities by the Chief Guest.

Literacy Awareness Campaign
On the occasion of ‘World Literacy Day’ on 8th Sept 2017 Dept of Biotechnology and Biochemistry in association with WEC cell and NSS organized rally and Nukkad Natak at Ektanagar Basti. The children of helping hand NGO were invited to our college for a Computer Awareness Program. To make this occasion memorable for the children of Helping Hand sweets and stationary items were distributed to them by the faculties and students of the department.

Talent Hunt
On 6th Sept 2017 talent hunt was organized by “My FM Jio Dil Se” in Career College, Bhopal. Students of different departments participated in the program and displayed their talents by performing in various activities such as dramas, mimicries, dances, songs and standup comedy acts in front of the judges. Radio Jokey Roopak of Jio Dilse chaired the judgment seat of the talent hunt. From our department Oshin Dhare of BSc V sem Biochemistry won first prize in solo singing male category and Sakshi Soni of BSc III sem Biotechnology won first prize in solo singing competition in female category. Pinki Kumari of BSc III sem Biotechnology in dance and Rohit Rawat of BSc V sem Biochemistry played guitar in this talent hunt.

EXOTICA: FORMULATION OF HERBAL PRODUCTS
Department of Biotechnology and Biochemistry organized a six days training program in association with Herb Veda from 7th January to 12th January 2019 for BSc. I year students. This program focused on the development of Herbal Products such as Herbal Oil, Aloe vera gel, Herbal Soap, Rose Water, various types of Facepacks, Lip Balm etc. The aim of this training was to develop entrepreneurial and marketing skills. Students participated in the training program with great zeal and gained deep insight on various aspects related to formulation of herbal products.

Dept. of Chemistry and NSS jointly celebrated "World Human Rights Day" on 10th Dec.2018 with great zeal and enthusiasm. On this occasion, a lecture was delivered by Prof. M.K. Srivastava, "Dean and Head of the Department of Legal Studies and Research Centre", BU, Bhopal. A poster competition was also organized on the topic "Human Rights". Approx.20 posters were presented by students. The efforts of participants were appreciated by the judge Prof. M.K. Srivastava, Principal, Dr. P.N. Tiwari, Career College. More than 100 students along with their staff members attended the program.

CELL IN ASSOCIATION WITH FAMILY PLANNING
On 1st Dec 2018 Dept of Biotechnology, Biochemistry and Women’s Empowerment Cell in association of with ‘Family Planning Association of India, Bhopal’ organized ‘World AIDS Day’. Ms. Neha Dharmadhikari, Field Co-ordinator, ‘Japan Trust Fund; Family Planning’, Shivaji Nagar, Bhopal along with our students and faculty members organized Nukkad Natak in Ekta Nagar Slum area on the theme ‘Know your Status’. Students distributed red ribbons & sweets and explained how AIDS can be prevented and how HIV patients should be treated with humanity instead of humiliated and outcasted by the society. People appreciated the efforts of the department.

Diyas and Thali Decoration
In order to inculcate the spirit of entrepreneurship a two days Skill Development Programme on 31st Oct. to 1st Nov. 2018 was organized by Pidilite Pvt. Ltd. on the theme of ‘Diyas and Thali Decoration’. The trainer Smt. Neelu Raghuwanshi encouraged the students to make different varieties of cost effective diyas using fabric paints. She also taught innovative techniques of painting Diyas and Thalis. The purpose behind this workshop was to have easy availability and accessibility of these items in the market, thus brings down their cost.

A Zero Hunger World by 2050 is possible
On the occasion of World Food Day on 16th October 2018 a poster competition was organized on the topic “A Zero Hunger World by 2050 is possible” by ICAR-Central Institute of Agricultural Engineering, Bhopal. Students of Microbiology Department participated and won 1st and 2nd prize among the 62 posters presented from in and around colleges of Bhopal of 7 colleges including Govt. colleges.1st Prize was bagged by Kajol K. Warudkar, Supriya Maity, Deepika Patel and Naveen Patley and 2nd prize was bagged by Rishabh Gupta, Vipin S. Chouhan, Himani More, Amita Dave and Kanchan Solanki. The students were accompanied by HOD. Dr. Reena Antony.

Emerging Diseases in Society
With a view of better understanding of the recent emerging diseases around the world and their impact on the society a poster competition was organized on 9th October 2018 which gave a platform to the students to showcase their view on this burning issue. The students made posters on the topics Dengue, Ebola Virus, Tuberculosis, Meningitis etc. Approx. 25 posters were presented by M.Sc. students which were seen and discussed by all students of the department including B.Sc and M.Sc students.

Non-violence and World Peace
2nd Oct 2018 is marked as International Day of Non-Violence, the birthday of Mahatma Gandhi, Leader of the India’s Independence Movement and a pioneer of non-violence. To celebrate this event, Dept of Biotechnology and biochemistry organized a Poster Competition on 1st Oct 2018 in which students participated in large numbers. It was based on the theme “Non-violence and World Peace”. Students participated and presented their posters with great enthusiasm. In this competition Nishu Singh BSc Biotech II year, Muskan Sahu of Bsc Biotech I year and Anjali Kadam Bsc Biotech II year bagged 1st, 2nd and 3rd Position respectively. Consolation prizes were also given to Yash Kumar Mehra, Priyanshu Uikey and Sujeet Raikwar of BSC Biotech I year. Principal, Career College, Dr. P.N. Tiwari highly appreciated the efforts of the students and shared his views on non- violence and spreading peace. Principal Career College & School of Nursing Mrs. Soney Toppo was the judge of the competition she really appreciated the efforts and creativity of students. Students enjoyed and learned the role of nonviolence in maintaining peace and how to imbibe the same in their lives and spread peace everywhere.

Cardiovascular mini marathon with Ubuntu
Cardiovascular Disease is world’s number one killer today and the most common reason for this disease is the lack of exercise, intake of fast food and unhealthy lifestyle. To make everyone aware of this on 29th September 2018 “Cardiovascular mini marathon with Ubuntu” was organized by Ubuntu Heart Hospital. Our students participated in the mini marathon and they learned that acrobatics like Zumba can help in keeping their heart healthy, that too while enjoying life. Our students distributed fruits to the senior citizens and also explained the importance of Yoga in staying healthy and keeping the heart strong thus, leading an energetic life.

World Ozone Layer Preservation Day
Dept. of Chemistry, Career College organized “World Ozone Layer Preservation Day” on 18th Sept. 2018 in college auditorium. Dr. Pramod Patil Senior Prof. of Biotechnology from Institute of Excellence in Higher Education was the Chief Guest for the occasion. Dr. P.N. Tiwari, Principal, Career College welcomed the guest by presenting a sapling. In the welcome speech he inspired the students to protect the environment. Dr. Pramod Patil beautifully correlated all the Basic Sciences and then explained what is the role of these Sciences to save our environment. He explained the interdependence of environment and human life. As a part of the commemorations, two competitions-Movie making and Best out of waste (paper bags) were organized. Prof. Patil was the judge for these two competitions with great enthusiasm the students participated in both the events. In ‘movie making’ Shivam Chourasiya and Sujit Raikwar shared 1st prize and in ‘Best Out of Waste competition’ 3rd prize was shared by Riya Vishwakarma and Darshana Katke, 2nd prize was bagged by Jyoti Patel and 1st prize was secured by KutsiaParveen.

World Literacy Day
Dept. of Computer Science, Career College, visited “Government Middle School Anand Marg”, Security Line, Bhopal on 8th Sept 2018 on the occasion of “World Literacy Day”. 20 students of M.Sc (CS)-I semester, M.Sc (CS)-III semester and BCA-IInd year participated in the event with the aim to create awareness amongst school students about “Swachh Bharat Mission” a Flagship Program of Government of India. Students & faculty of dept conducted a “Drawing and Painting Competition” for the school students on the said theme that is “Swachh Bharat, Swasth Bharat”. Prizes were given to the winners. Chocolates and paper bags were also distributed to the students in the school.

September is observed as "Polycystic ovary Disorder (PCOD)" awareness month. PCOD is a Hormonal Disorder in women and one of the most common reasons for Infertility among women. To spread awareness about causes, symptoms, Prevention and remedies Dept. of Biotechnology and Biochemistry and Women Empowerment Cell (WEC) organized an awareness program for girls of Govt. Mahatma Gandhi H.S. School, BHEL, Bhopal on 8th Sep 2018, where Miss Tanuja Murab and Dr Nidhi Gujar explained how to detect and prevent PCOD by natural means. Students of Govt. Mahatma Gandhi H S School interacted with the faculties and gained indepth knowledge of this problem and its precautions that can prevent its occurence

Importance of Literacy and Skill development
On the occasion of International Literacy Day i.e. on 8th Sept 2018 Department of Biotechnology and Biochemistry with association with SANKALP NGO represented by our student Rohit Rawat visited Govt. Mahatma Gandhi Higher School, BHEL Bhopal. 40 students of Biotechnology and Biochemistry dept organized a Skit and Quiz on “Importance of Literacy and Skill development” and distributed study materials, sweets and prizes to the winners. A total of 150 students of Govt. Mahatma Gandhi Higher School, BHEL Bhopal participated in the program. The Principal of the School Dr. Poonam Praksah Agrawal presented letter of appreciation to Dept. of Biotechnology and Biochemistry for enlightening the students for the importance of literacy.

Eco-Friendly Murti Nirman
Dept. of Commerce and Management organized a ‘‘Skill Development Programme’’ on 5th Sep. 2018 on ‘Eco-Friendly Murti Nirman’ in collaboration with ‘MP Pollution Control Board’, Bhopal under the guidance of Mr. Ashok Bhardwaj (Clay Artist, OM Shri Hari Shilpkar Kalyan Samiti, Bhopal). Approx 50 students participated in this activity. This training programme was organized to create awareness for the preservation of environment and also for self- employment. Certificates were given to students who attended this training programme by Mr. S.S. Bundela, Regional Officer, MPPCB.
